J.J. Abrams has pulled it off again with a thrill ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
The visuals are stunning and beautiful, the stunts are fantastic, and Benedict Cumberbatch plays a fantastic villain with a very menacing tone and attitude.
Star Trek Into Darkness is exciting and emotional and proves why Abrams is the right person to do the next Star Wars movie.

Lars and the Real Girl
An odd, quirky film that’s rather amusing yet touching. At times you’ll feel that you don’t know if to laugh or feel sorry for Lars.
Portraying a character with a delusion must be pretty difficult but Ryan Gosling does it extremely well with the perfect use of mixed emotions. It’s a very different role that I’m used to seeing Gosling in and I’m really impressed.
Lars and the Real Girl has it’s fun moments, it has it’s sad moments but overall it’s both sweet and enjoyable.

Evil Dead (2013)
While it has been called a remake it does have different characters and a different reason to be at the cabin and although it takes high influence from original you could see this as part of the same series, with hints from various people recently that also may be what it is.
So with any remake/reimagining/reboot/etc I was worried when I heard about this, although once I heard Cambell and Raimi were on board It made me more positive about the outcome. And honestly, they pulled it off here.
The violence and gore is super high, the actors did a good job, and it’s very entertaining. While much more serious than the original movie, it did have a few scenes that made me laugh out loud, although I’m not sure it was an international thing by the film makers. Either way I loved it.
You’ll want to see this if you’re a fan of the series or not, it’s very much worth it. Oh, and make sure you stay the credits.

The Place Beyond the Pines
This really caught me off guard, and will likely do the same to many. Without giving too much away it shows both sides of a story which really makes you feel very conflicted right until the third part of the film, and it’s done really well. Both Cooper and Gosling do a great job here and play the emotions perfectly. Not what I expected at all, but a great film.

A little more than two months after Blockbuster announced it had gone into administration, the British equivalent of filing Chapter 11 bankrupcy, the company has found a buyer. Reuters reports that Gordon Brothers Europe has purchased 264 Blockbuster stores for an undisclosed sum, and intends to keep them open — it says the acquisition will keep 2,000 of the company’s 4,000 jobs intact, and the 264 stores figure is likewise half of Blockbuster’s roster of 528 locations in the UK.
I wasn’t even aware Blockbuster still existed in the UK, plus half of the stores closing isn’t really a surprise at all. Who wants to rent a disc from a store these days when you can stream most things online from services such as Netflix or even Blinkbox?
Django Unchained was fantastic. Didn’t expect anything less. The mix of comedy, violence and shock was perfect. Another fantastic Tarantino film.
